Boscastle Elm Cottage is a rare example of an unspoilt 17th century cottage, carefully refurbished to retain its rustic charm. Inside you’ll find original features such as slate flags, low beamed ceilings and doorways, and differing floor levels. These features, together with its cosy wood burner make the cottage a special place to stay. Refresh the soul with sounds of the river and wildlife.
It nestles in a leafy seclusion in the wooded Valency Valley, and just metres from the river’s edge. Explore this hidden corner of Cornwall, with its rich, oak woodland and the forgotten churches of Minster and St Juliots. Follow the river a mile downstream to one of the most beautiful and unspoilt villages in Cornwall, Boscastle. Here you’ll find quaint stone-built cottages, traditional pubs, shops, art galleries, tearooms and an Elizabethan quay.
A short drive away is the historic village of Tintagel, a place which will forever be connected to the legend of King Arthur. Be sure to visit Tintagel Old Post Office with a complimentary entry for guests. For a traditional fishing village, drive 30 minutes east to Port Isaac. Or for one of the best surfing beaches for beginners on the north coast, drive a little further to Polzeath.

Ground floor: Dining hall, kitchen and sitting room with solid-fuel stove.
First floor: Two bedrooms (one double with 5' bed and one twin) and bathroom with mixer tap attachment over the bath.

There is a partly enclosed, level grassed area at the front of the cottage and a sloping grassed area to the side of the cottage.

Please note: This cottage is fairly isolated and the approach is by a single track which is long, narrow and steep, with two hair pin bends. It is unsuitable for some motors and low slung vehicles. Our hidden gem is found at the end of the track and worth every step of the way. There is one passing place as you carefully drive down. During wet weather, depending upon the season, you may see leaves on the track.
Parking: Level parking for one car next to the cottage.
Heating: Night storage, electrorad eco heating and convector heating included.
Fire: The fire or wood burning stove will be laid with sufficient logs for the first evening. Fire making kits can be purchased at time of booking.
The Fire making kits cost £30.00 and contain kindling, firelighters and Ash logs, enough for two evening fires.
Please note: A length of river water, cut off from the main flow, has formed at the edge of the car parking area. Abundant with vegetation, the water is not immediately obvious. Fencing has been erected along the edge of the car parking area at the river's edge . There is an old privy in a quiet part of the garden which should not be accessed. Children would need to be supervised at all times.
Telephone: Most mobiles can pick up signal at the top of the track but there is no mobile signal at the cottage.
