Brimming with character Braich Melyn is the perfect country cottage stay. It has many traditional features including an inglenook fireplace giving the cottage a real sense of historic charm. The cottage dates from the 17th-century and its attached barns are still intact, as is the hill farm it’s based on. You will be encompassed by green farmland, grazing livestock and unrivalled views across the valley.

Rise early and head out into the heart of Eryri (Snowdonia). One of the highlights is Rhaeadr Ddu, one of the most dramatic waterfalls in Wales and just a 20 minute drive from here.

Mountain bikers will enjoy the trail at Coed y Brenin, 16 miles away, while those more akin to a slower pace can try the nearby Mawddach Trail which runs along an old railway line. Both routes are part of the Traws Eryi trail, a 200km off-road adventure cycling route for experienced riders, which links up some of the best riding in Eryri (Snowdonia). The market town of Dolgellau is just a 15 minute drive, where you’ll be able to pick up the walking trail for Cader Idris.
