BBC Countryfile Visits Dudmaston
We welcomed BBC’s Countryfile and presenter Matt Baker to Dudmaston in April. The episode about conservation projects at Shropshire National Trust properties, which aired on Sunday 18 May 2025 is now available on iPlayer.
After an early start filming by Big Pool at Dudmaston Hall, Matt and the crew moved to the floodplain meadow near Bonesmill. Many volunteers from Dudmaston and Kinver Edge joined us to plant plug plants (including Greater Birds-foot Trefoil, Great Burnet and Devils bit Scabious) which will help to reduce the ongoing effects of flooding in that part of the estate.
The team then moved to Mose Farm to meet tenant farmer Martyn Bebb. Over 10 years, 240 acres of Martyn’s arable land will be transformed to heathland to support rare wildlife and plants. Martyn introduced Matt to his herd of Highland cows. It’s safe to say that Annabella, one of the herd’s youngest members, was winning hearts.
